Red

Red

I am red

And always red

Though I come in different shades.

Rare times I’m pink—

More often, I think—

I’m scarlet, but that usually fades

To maroon nearly black—

I soon revert back—

But I’ll always be red, I’m afraid.

She is a garden

A vibrant garden

Of so many colorful flowers

She is yellow and blue

And lavender too

I could list her colors for hours

But through blooms I can see

Her true shade is green

Green leaves, green thorns, green towers.

I loved her colors

Her beautiful colors

I loved the way they transfix

I wanted to give her

Myself forever

But red and green do not mix.
